At Manzú Restaurant, dining isn’t just a meal. It’s a full experience that blends Costa Rica’s vibrant coastal flavors with the raw beauty of Santa Teresa’s beachfront.
Consistently ranked among the top beachfront restaurants in Costa Rica, Manzú Restaurant is an open-air, toes-in-the-sand culinary haven offering panoramic ocean and breathtaking sunset views. The name Manzú, which means “friends” in the Chorotega language, reflects the welcoming spirit of this space, a place to gather, share, and savor.
The menu celebrates the freshest ingredients Costa Rica has to offer, staying true to the sea to table philosophy. Fresh seafood arrives daily from the Nicoya Peninsula Blue Zone, complemented by vibrant local produce and crafted into dishes that balance tradition, creativity, and pure flavor.
Our recommendation is to arrive in time for sunset. Let the colors of the sky set the mood while you enjoy one, or why not two, of our signature cocktails, which showcase the best of Costa Rican mixology. As the sun melts into the horizon, our team prepares your table so you can dine under the stars, with the ocean as your backdrop.
For a deeper culinary experience, indulge in our Pura Vida Tasting Menu, a six-course journey through Costa Rica’s rich culinary heritage, carefully designed for lovers of authentic Nantipa cuisine. Each dish tells a story of the country’s diverse landscapes, crafted with locally sourced ingredients that honor both tradition and innovation.
And for an unforgettable evening, romantic dinner offers a private beachfront table, a curated menu, a welcome glass of sparkling wine, and a special bottle of wine to pair with your meal, all accompanied by the soothing rhythm of the waves. Dive into Santa Teresa’s most romantic dining experience.
At Manzú, dining is unhurried, soulful, and intimately connected to the essence of Santa Teresa dining, bringing together the best of Costa Rica’s flavors and its coastal lifestyle.
Costa Rica is a dream destination for nature, adventure, and relaxation, but did you know it’s also the perfect place for a luxury family vacation? At Nantipa – A Tico Beach Experience, families can enjoy a unique blend of barefoot luxury, authentic experiences, and activities designed for guests of all ages. If you’re searching for a family friendly hotel that keeps both kids and parents happy, Nantipa delivers an unforgettable beach escape.
Located in Santa Teresa, on Costa Rica’s Blue Zone Nicoya Peninsula, Nantipa combines the comfort of a luxury family resort with the freedom to explore, learn, and connect with nature as a family. From beach days to educational adventures, every moment here is designed to inspire.
Why Nantipa is perfect for families traveling to Santa Teresa with kids:
Family Surf Lessons Santa Teresa is known for its year-round waves, and learning to surf together is one of the most fun and rewarding family activities. Our expert surf instructors offer classes for all levels, so both parents and kids can catch their first waves in a safe, exciting environment.
Tide Pools at Low Tide Nature creates the perfect playground right in front of the Nantipa Beachfront Villas. During low tide, shallow tide pools form along the beach, ideal for little explorers to safely discover marine life and cool off in crystal-clear water.
Learning Through Nature At Nantipa, we believe the best learning happens outdoors. Through “learning to read nature” families can deepen their understanding of local ecosystems, wildlife, and sustainability. It’s an interactive, educational experience that turns every walk on the beach, every forest trail, and every wildlife encounter into a hands-on classroom.
Wildlife Exploration Santa Teresa with kids is even more exciting when you explore beyond the hotel. Nearby, families can visit Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve or Curu Wildlife Refuge, where spotting monkeys, tropical birds, and other animals in their natural habitat is always a highlight.Farm Tours and Local Traditions Get a real taste of Costa Rica with a local farm tour. Kids love the chance to milk cows, learn how to make cheese, and understand the full process from farm to table. It’s a fun, educational experience that connects families with the region’s rural traditions.
Family Fishing or Adventure Tours For families craving more adventure, options abound. You can head out on a fishing trip, explore hidden beaches by boat, or get your adrenaline pumping with a family-friendly canopy tour in the nearby jungle.
A Luxury Beach Escape for Everyone Nantipa for families means comfort, space, and freedom. Our Nanku suites offer plenty of room for everyone and easy beach access. For larger families, our three bedroom beachfront villas are the perfect way to spoil the family and keep everyone together. Parents can unwind while kids play, and shared experiences turn into lifelong memories.
Sustainability in Action: Join Our Beach Clean-Up
Teaching kids to care for the places they love is part of the Nantipa experience. We’ve set up a beach clean-up station right in front of Manzú where you can pick up a bag and gloves, collect trash from the shore, and swap your effort for a smoothie. Little ones love “treasure hunting” for microplastics, and older kids can help weigh and log what’s collected—turning it into a fun eco-challenge and a powerful lesson in ocean stewardship
Family Yoga Every Morning
Start the day in sync with nature with our family yoga classes each morning in the Yoga shala. It’s a gentle, fun way to exercise, boost kids’ focus and flexibility, and bring the whole family together through a shared routine. Our instructors offer age- and level-appropriate modifications, so beginners and seasoned yogis feel at ease. Mats and props are provided, just bring water and a smile.
Whether you’re traveling with toddlers, teens, or multigenerational groups, Nantipa offers the perfect balance of relaxation, exploration, and luxury for your next Costa Rican getaway.
Looking for the ultimate kids activities in Costa Rica? You’ll find them here, where barefoot luxury meets authentic family adventure.

To secure your preferred dates and room category, the best time to book is by January or February of the same year. Barefoot vs. Traditional Luxury: Where to Stay on the Beach in Costa Rica
Planning the perfect Costa Rica vacation often means exploring more than one destination. Many travelers start inland, perhaps in the Arenal Volcano region or the cloud forests, before heading to the coast for a few relaxing days by the ocean. But with so many beautiful beaches to choose from, how do you decide where to stay?
One key question: Do you prefer traditional luxury or barefoot luxury?
What Is Traditional Luxury?
Costa Rica is home to several high-end resorts, many of them part of global brands, especially in the northwestern province of Guanacaste. Along the stretch from Tamarindo to the Papagayo Peninsula, you’ll find large resorts with golf courses, marinas, and multiple dining options.
These resorts are designed for comfort and convenience. Guests often stay on property for most of their visit, only leaving for curated excursions or spa treatments. It’s a classic luxury experience: polished, predictable, and relaxing.
What Is Barefoot Luxury?
Beyond Guanacaste, Costa Rica’s coastline offers a very different experience. Independent boutique hotels are the norm, often much smaller and deeply connected to their natural surroundings. Some are tucked away in quiet, remote areas, while others are steps from surf towns known for great food, wellness, and a laid-back vibe.
Santa Teresa, located on the Nicoya Peninsula, is one of Costa Rica’s most iconic barefoot luxury destination sand for good reason. The Nicoya Peninsula is recognized as one of the world’s five Blue Zones, regions where people live significantly longer and healthier lives. Many attribute this longevity to a strong connection with nature, fresh local food, daily physical activity, and a lifestyle centered around community and well-being.
Nantipa A Tico Beach Experience in Santa Teresa is one of the best examples of barefoot luxury. With just 29 rooms and 150 meters of beach frontage, Nantipa offers a blend of costarican authenticity, sustainability, and comfort. Guests can walk to restaurants, shops, and yoga studios while enjoying high-end accommodations, gourmet dining at Manzú, and wellness treatments at the Numu Spa. All this within the unique cultural setting of a Blue Zone, where health, happiness, and simplicity are part of daily life.
So, Which Beach Stay Is Right for You?
If you love staying in a resort where everything is taken care of and you rarely need to leave, traditional luxury in Papagayo might be perfect.
But if you’re looking for a more immersive, authentic, and sustainable experience with the same level of comfort, Nantipa and Costa Rica’s barefoot luxury properties, especially those within the Nicoya Peninsula Blue Zone might be calling your name.
There’s no wrong choice, just the right one for your style of travel.

This month we celebrated our semi-annual advisor FAM trip, with participation of 11 outstanding advisors from the United States, Spain and Canada. After a careful application and selection process these advisors were invited to participate based on their expertise in selling Costa Rica along with their passion for sustainability and the destination.
The core FAM was five nights, spending the first day in San Jose, sleeping at the Hotel Presidente. Here advisors had the opportunity to explore the city and enjoy a welcome dinner at the rooftop restaurant. Next stop was Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa for 2 nights, where participants enjoyed the thermal springs, the spa, and had the opportunity to either experience the Pure Trek Canyoning tour, or the Mistico Hanging Bridges guided hike. Last stop was two nights in Senda in Monteverde, to explore the Cloud Forest and the activities in the region. Everyone had the opportunity to include either a pre or a post two night visit to Nantipa in Santa Teresa, to explore the beach, the region and the horseback riding tour.
A Wallace Pierson advisor commented that “’What a wonderful, enriching delight Costa Rica was! Each day brought a new adventure of horseback riding, ziplining, and hiking in Mistico Hanging Bridges Park, near the Arenal Volcano. Tabacon Thermal Springs Resort was so relaxing and I really enjoyed the Thermal Springs. The Stunning sunsets, and wonderful food at Nantipa Resort were not to be missed! I can’t wait to return to Costa Rica, Pura Vida!”
A Direct Travel advisor added “This fam trip was exceptional! I don’t always go on fams but I’m sure glad I went on this one. It gave me huge insight into selling Costa Rica. The hotels were fabulous. The activities were great. My favorite place was Nantipa. I loved the resort and the town. It certainly is a great place to unwind and relax. Service impeccable. Accommodations are very comfortable and luxurious. A good choice for yoga clientele.
Tabacon Springs was also an amazing place. So many pools of hot springs to cozy up in. Lots of personal space. Food was amazing. Beautiful grounds. Wonderful staff. Another great place to relax and unwind.
Senda Monteverde was small an intimate. Great food. Great staff.
I felt that the hotels certainly fit the country’s sustainability strategies. All in all an amazing experience and I am grateful to have had the experience”
“I arrived home safely and wanted to express my immense gratitude to each of you for the incredible opportunity to join the Costa Rica trip last week. Thank you for warmly introducing me to the Pura Vida lifestyle! The honeymoon suite was a delightful surprise, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Tabacon. I’m excited about referring clients to you and planning my own return trip as soon as possible. From the accommodations, spa, and hot springs to the dining, drinks, and, most importantly, the exceptional staff and hospitality, please accept my heartfelt thanks for your hospitality. Meeting each of you was a blessing, and I eagerly anticipate future connections at other events. If you ever find yourself in Dallas, please let me know so I can show you around Texas! Once again, it was truly my pleasure to spend time with you, and I simply wanted to convey my deep appreciation to each of you!” wrote a Pickles Vacations advisor.

Sustainable Packing List
Packing smart not only lightens your luggage but also your environmental footprint. When visiting a biodiverse paradise like Costa Rica, where the natural environment is both a treasure and a responsibility, bringing along eco-friendly essentials can make a significant difference. Here are essentials for a sustainable trip to Costa Rica, ensuring you’re prepared for adventure while contributing positively to the preservation of this unique destination.
Reusable Water Bottle: Tap water in Costa Rica is safe to drink in most areas, so a durable water bottle is a must-have to stay hydrated without plastic waste.
Reef-Friendly Sunblock: Protect your skin and marine life with sunblock that doesn’t contain harmful chemicals.
Eco-Friendly Bug Repellent: Opt for natural or DEET-free options to keep the bugs at bay without harming the ecosystem.
Biodegradable Toiletries: At Nantipa, we provide guests with refillable toiletries, including shampoo and soap, to minimize waste and environmental impact. Should you prefer to bring your own, choosing biodegradable products is a thoughtful way to further reduce your footprint.
Lightweight, Quick-Dry Clothing: Ideal for Costa Rica’s climate, these clothes reduce laundry needs and conserve water.
Wildlife Respect
Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity is one of its most extraordinary treasures, attracting nature lovers from all corners of the globe. Respecting wildlife and their habitats is paramount to ensuring these natural wonders continue to thrive. Engaging with the environment responsibly allows us to witness the beauty of nature without disrupting the delicate balance that sustains it. Below are key considerations and tips for interacting with Costa Rica’s wildlife in a way that honors their rightful place in the ecosystem and ensures their preservation for years to come.
Guided Tours: Opt for local eco-guides who can provide insights without disturbing the wildlife. Our concierge service is ready to organize a range of nature-based experiences for you, carefully selecting from our curated list of responsible partners. This ensures your adventures contribute positively to the local ecosystem and community.
Keep Distance: Always maintain a respectful distance from animals to avoid stressing them.
No Feeding: Feeding wildlife can alter their natural behaviors and diet. Enjoy watching them, but let them find their own food.
Support Local Economies
The heart of Costa Rica’s charm lies not only in its stunning landscapes but also in its vibrant communities and rich cultural heritage. Supporting local economies is a powerful way to contribute to sustainable development and enrich your travel experience. By choosing to spend your money on local businesses, eateries, and artisans, you’re investing in the community’s growth and sustainability. This approach fosters a deeper connection to the places you visit and provides a more authentic insight into Costa Rican life and traditions. Here’s how you can make a positive impact on the local economy while enjoying the genuine warmth and hospitality of its people.
Local Dining: Choose restaurants that use local, sustainably sourced ingredients. Nantipa Hotel’s restaurant is a prime example, offering delicious meals that support local farmers. Our concierge can provide a list of recommended restaurants, ensuring you experience the best of local cuisine while supporting the community.
Crafts and Souvenirs: Purchase from local artisans to help keep traditional crafts alive and support local economies. Look for shops and markets that sell authentic local products. We are proud to partner with and recommend a variety of local artisans and shops known for their quality and commitment to sustainability. Our concierge service is available to guide you to these unique spots, making it easier for you to find meaningful souvenirs and gifts that contribute positively to the local economy.
Environmental Care
Costa Rica is a global leader in conservation and environmental management, making it a prime destination for eco-conscious travelers. Practicing environmental care during your visit plays a crucial role in maintaining the country’s natural beauty and biodiversity. Simple, mindful actions can significantly reduce your ecological footprint, supporting Costa Rica’s efforts to remain a verdant and thriving paradise. From waste reduction to water conservation, these tips will help you travel more sustainably, ensuring that Costa Rica continues to be a beacon of environmental stewardship for the world to see.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Be mindful of waste. Refuse single-use plastics and participate in Nantipa’s recycling programs. In partnership with the Nicoya Peninsula Waterkeepers, we are committed to preserving our pristine environment through dedicated efforts in waste management and water conservation. Your participation helps support these vital initiatives, ensuring the beauty of Costa Rica for future generations.
Water Conservation: Water is precious. Reuse towels and avoid long showers. Nantipa provides options for guests to easily conserve water.
Support Conservation Efforts: Engage in activities that contribute to local conservation, such as beach clean-ups or donating to environmental organizations. At Nantipa, we’ve made it easy and accessible for our guests to contribute through the beach cleanup station located at Manzú Restaurant. We invite you to join a quick 10-minute beach clean-up at any time during your stay. This simple act of stewardship not only enhances the beauty of our shores but also supports our broader commitment to preserving the natural environment.
Engage in Volunteer Experiences
To further enrich your journey, consider engaging in volunteer experiences that allow you to give back directly to the community and environment. Visiting our local animal rescue center offers a hands-on way to contribute to wildlife conservation efforts, while spending time at local schools can foster cultural exchange and support education. These experiences not only deepen your understanding of Costa Rica’s environmental and social fabric but also leave a lasting positive impact on the places and lives you touch.
